Accessing GDB command line from within debugger GUI

The underlying debugger within the Code RED IDE is GDB. Sometimes it can be useful to access gdb functionality from the command line, rather than through the IDE's GUI.

This can be done by switching the IDE's "Console View" to "arm-none-eabi-gdb" (Code Red IDE v4) or "gdb" (Code Red IDE v5) using the terminal-like "Display selected console" icon on the right of the Console View

Note that if you only have one console open, then the IDE will periodically switch between the different console types automatically - which if you want to use gdb commands may not be what is required.

To solve this you can use the "Open console" icon to create a new console view, then switch the new console to the "arm-none-eabi-gdb"/ "gdb"console type (as above) and use this console for your gdb access.

For more information on using command line GDB, please see the "Debugging with GDB" document provided within the IDE's Help->Help Contents system.
